CW: Much to my children’s dismay, I have yet to feature them on camera. But luckily, the other guy in this situation doesn’t care about his kids. So, we’re happy to exploit them on camera.
Judd’s son: He doesn’t care about me!
CW: He does. But he does care when you use an indoor voice. So, we’re here today, we’re at a joint called Calabria Pizza.
We’re at a joint called Calabria. Like the chili. This is a Roman-style pizza where it’s a rectangle or just a giant pan and anywhere in Rome you go, you walk into a place and you cut to order. You say, I want that size piece, I want that size piece. And you pay by the pound. Right? So it allows you to go to a place like this and be like, I’m gonna try 17 different pizzas ’cause I’m gonna pay by the pound.
Blue cheese and mushroom, man. We’re just gonna straight up, right? Great crust, again.
Judd: Fantastic.
CW: If you’re mid-day and you’re in Crown Heights, munching out, how many pizzas do you think you can try?
Judd: Five, six pizzas.
CW: This is a garlic something pizza. Roasted, perfectly garlic. It’s not a pungent garlic. It’s not garlic powder. That is a beautiful, soft roasted garlic in there.
Judd: Next. Margarita.
CW: That crust is really fantastic.
Judd: Yeah.
CW: We’ve experienced dessert pizza before. They are a thing that exists. This is an Oreo, something, something dessert pizza.
Judd: And this is a Nutella one.
CW: Straight up, man. Who doesn’t want to munch out on a dessert pizza? Like, it makes sense to me.
We tried, in the span of 10 minutes, we had 9 different things.
Judd: Yeah. And not heavy.
CW: Not heavy, we got bites of a pizza, which was great. It’s a cool place. One of the best kosher Roman-style pizza joints in the United States.
Judd: Hand’s down.
CW: They got gluten-free pizza. So, gluten-free pizza is important. They bake it separately.
Pizza by the pound. It’s a very specific style of pizza. And it’s worth a great shot. It’s gonna be crunchy. Don’t expect your gloopady, glopady, cheesy… No. What you’re getting is a perfect hand-held bite. Right? It goes in your mouth, it’s crunchy, it’s delicious. You get to try like 30 different types. That is special to me. To go to a place and just house the menu. Yeah, just get little slivers from each one. You pick a size. You pick your size. You want big? You want thin? Pick a bunch of thin. This is the kind of place you want to go to.
