We visited Geffen Glatt, a cozy Five Towns spot, that captures the essence of homestyle Middle Eastern comfort food.
Our journey started with a delightful dish that echoes comfort — the Chicken Tender, aka Schnitzelonim – perfectly cooked and accompanied by sauces that take them to the next level. It’s the epitome of comfort food!
Next was Yemenite Fatoot, and then a Laffa Boat. They were both hearty and satisfying authentic meals.
We also enjoyed the schnitzel in laffa, which is a beautifully fried schnitzel wrapped in soft laffa bread.
Geffen Glatt also serves up an excellent Lahmajoun, a flatbread with minced meat or lamb. We then discovered the Mujadara bowl, a classic combination of rice, lentils, and fried onions, elevated to an art form. The bowl bursts with vibrant veggies and succulent chicken pieces, presenting a fast-casual version of the universally adored chicken and rice dish.
One of the highlights at Geffen Glatt is the ever-changing buffet platter, which mirrors the spontaneity of a home-cooked meal. The platter represents daily culinary creativity, from chicken on the bone prepared with love to a unique chicken cashew dish and a beautifully stuffed artichoke.
Geffen Glatt is in Hewlett, New York, and under the supervision of Vaad Hakashrus Of Five Towns & Far Rockaway. Every dish is crafted with care at this great spot and delivers homestyle comfort in a fast-casual setting. This space is all about sharing the joy of great food and making you feel at home.
